Removable

Braces

Removable Braces

Removable braces are available in several forms and are used to create space for other teeth, close gaps, or support jaw development. The classic removable appliance is most often used to treat jaw misalignments in growing children and adolescents. These braces can be made separately for the upper and lower jaws or as a combined appliance.

Functional Orthodontic Appliances

Functional orthodontic appliances, such as the Fränkel device or Bionator, take a more holistic approach by stimulating the jaw’s natural growth impulses. They are commonly used in cases of pronounced overbites or underbites. With good patient compliance, these appliances can often eliminate the need for tooth extractions.

Space Maintainer

A space maintainer (also known as a placeholder) is typically used in children who have lost baby teeth prematurely due to decay. It is usually worn only at night for a period of 1–2 years, depending on the child’s age and stage of dental development.

Retention Appliance

The retention appliance, or retainer, is typically worn at night following treatment with fixed braces or after an active orthodontic phase. Its purpose is to maintain the permanent teeth in their ideal positions over the long term. The duration of retention therapy varies by patient and may last up to 2–3 years.
